Margie Jarvis, the Director of Avidus Associates, has undertaken global research to assess the extent to which transformational leadership engenders commitment in staff. The research was conducted with a sample of individuals from private sector companies, the education sector and unpaid volunteer staff. Spanning respondents in the UK, Bermuda, Canada and the USA the research involved a number of robust quantitative surveys and some qualitative interviews.

Paragraph taken from conclusion of Research Paper:
The study authenticates the positive correlation between the construct of affective commitment and the construct of transformational leadership. Unquestionably, the constituents of transformational leadership are conducive to the development of affective commitment. The findings indicate that transformational leadership has tremendous potential to influence employee motivation, performance and affective commitment. It reinforces the belief that a transformational approach can assist in building a committed workforce and whilst effective processes and procedures are important it is such things as integrity, quality, trust, vision, openness, caring and respect that are indicative of success. The study highlights the importance of work experiences that communicate that the organization is supportive of its employees, treats them fairly, and enhances their sense of personal importance and competence by appearing to value their contribution to the organization.
